Anthony Rizzo has been practicing criminal law since 2011.
In 2021, the French-speaking Bar Association of Brussels officially recognized him as a specialist in criminal law.
He advises both individuals and companies and represents them before French-speaking criminal courts.
His passion for law, combined with a focus on pragmatic and balanced solutions, guides his daily practice.
During his studies at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), he was awarded the Paul Foriers and René Marcq prizes for academic excellence.
He later served as a teaching assistant at both UMONS and ULB.
In December 2020, he earned a PhD in Law from ULB after defending his doctoral thesis entitled “La confiscation et le gel préventif d’avoirs terroristes : quelle place pour les droits fondamentaux dans la lutte contre le crime et le terrorisme ?”. This thesis was awarded the Joseph-Hubert Helsen Prize in 2022.
Since the 2020–2021 academic year, he has been a substitute lecturer for the advanced special criminal law course at ULB, and since 2024–2025, for the advanced general criminal law course as well.
He was appointed lecturer in charge of the criminal procedure course at ULB for the 2022–2023 academic year.
Since the 2023–2024 academic year, he has been responsible for the seminar on criminal advocacy at ULB and is one of the coordinators of the European Criminal Law Clinic at the same university.
He is frequently invited to speak at courses and conferences focused on criminal law, criminal procedure, and fundamental rights. He has also published numerous academic articles to date (see: difusion.ulb.ac.be).
He has held the criminal cassation certificate since 2016 and is one of the laureates of the Professional Training in Cassation Techniques and Procedures organized by the Court of Cassation Bar (2019–2023 cycle).
